One of my favorite quotes from Jim Rohn is something about a life best lived is a life by design.  I like to think about my goal to stay healthy as my anti aging plan by design.  We’re so busy every day that it can be easy to forget that we need to plan for good health.  If you look around and see how many people are either sick or aging pre-maturely, you can see that optimal health doesn’t just happen.

It is easy to get caught up in what’s convenient or quick, instead of what is good for us. What stands out to me, and hopefully does to you as well, is the benefits you get back when you target healthy living – and I’m not talking extreme here, but doing the best you can.

Today I’ll just throw out three healthy lifestyle tips you can use to better your health, increase your happiness, and enjoy life to its fullest:

 

1. The benefits of rest and rejuvenation.

Sleep is something a lot of people overlook.  You many find yourself trying to skimp on sleep more often than you realize. ?Life is hectic and we often stretch the day longer trying to get things done. Or maybe you can’t quiet your busy minds in order to get restful sleep. The bad news is that getting less sleep is actually counterproductive to doing anything efficiently, effectively, or well!

Your ability to get enough sleep helps you to work more efficiently and play vigorously. It rejuvenates your body, mind, and encourages a positive attitude.

 

2. Nutritious foods rock.

When you eat a healthy, balanced diet your body gets the nutrients it needs and not the extra calories, sugar, fat and other non-nutrients you don’t need.  You shouldn’t only think about eating healthy if you are trying to lose weight.  You eat well for health. It’s like the old saying:  Eat to Live (not live to eat mentality that is contributing to the overweight and obesity problems that also lead to illness and disease).

What you eat affects your entire body, including your brain. You can think clearer, feel happier, enjoy more energy and avoid illness by eating nutritious foods. Try to eat more raw vegetables and fruits instead of processed and packaged foods or fast foods.

3. Think positive.

The mind is very powerful! It’s not a stretch to say that when you have a positive attitude you are able to enjoy living a fulfilling life. Living and thinking positively is important to your health as well. In contrast, negative things often rule your mind and body and contribute to stress which can lead to getting sick.

I believe that your attitude is one of the most important contributors to both your happiness and your health.  It may be hard to be positive all the time (or even most of the time), but you can plan things like daily affirmations or whatever works for you to help you stay positive. You can include your commitment to taking good care of yourself in order to build better health into your positive thinking.
